Q. TELL US YOUR JOB TITLE AND COMPANY?
A. Founder and Director of AMCKDance and AMCKModels.
Q. TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR JOB AND HOW YOU GOT THERE? WHO INSPIRED YOU AND WHAT’S THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU HAVE FACED?
A. Really long story…. I started training as a gymnast throughout my teens and became the British Champion, representing my country and winning medals internationally including at the Commonwealth Games. I then started dancing with all the pop stars of the 90’s including The Backstreet Boys and Take That the first time round! From there I went into choreography with my first major artist being Kanye West, which lead me to found my own business AMCKDance. My agency represents choreographers, creative directors and dancers, working across all the major music platforms including The Brits, MTV, films, commercials, music videos and the rest.
I then decided to expand the company and opened a model division AMCK Models, which is the only high fashion exclusively male model agency in the UK. The boys work on major campaigns from Gucci to Burberry as well as fashion shows. My time is spent running both divisions, traveling, going to shows, being in rehearsal studios and running the team in my office on the day to day.
My mother was my biggest inspiration. She worked tirelessly for my brother and I, something I try to do now for my own two children. I’ve just had my daughter four months ago after a gap of 11 years, the time that I’ve taken to build the company. Challenges are everyday and everywhere. The more challenges you have, the more you learn and in turn the more confident you become in your choices and of who you are.
Q. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR CASUAL AND WORK WARDROBE?
A. I don’t think I can really define my style! I like to totally mix it up, creating looks spontaneously, mixing in a lot of vintage with high street and key designer pieces. I always invest in great coats, shoes and bags. My job is so diverse so one day I can be sitting in the ‘frow’ at a show, channeling my utmost fashion look and the next I can be in a rehearsal studio in simple leggings and a pair of Nike Air Max!!
Q. TELL US ABOUT A SPECIAL ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE?
A. That’s one really amazing point about getting older – the collection of things that are special has built up with memories and moments of what you bought or where you wore something. My jewellery collection holds most of my memories.
Q. WHAT HAVE YOU PURCHASED FROM NICHOLE DE CARLE LONDON? WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT IT AND THE BRAND?
A. My favourite piece at the moment are the swim braces. They are flattering and cool, and you can style them in a multitude of ways. That’s basically what I love about the brand as a whole. The pieces that Nichole has created are made for the individual to then add their own flavour to.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACED THAT YOU HAVE VISITED AND WHY?
A. My favourite place is Tropea, Calabria in Southern Italy. It’s where my husband was born and grew up, so we go there every year as a family. It’s a beautiful ancient town built into the rocks, with a white sand beach and crystal water below. It’s my paradise and I’m very lucky that my children can experience this as their second home with such a wonderful culture.
Q. WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN AND WHO WAS IT FROM?
A. My Mum told me to, “Be the best version of YOU that you can be….”
Q. HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL TIPS FR HEALTH AND BEAUTY?
A. YOGA YOGA YOGA… then you can do whatever you want, eat bread, drink wine and generally be happy!!
Q. FINISH THE SENTENCE:
A. I feel most confident when I am…. happy!
